4 Days Mount Elgon Summit Trek Itinerary
Day 1: Bushiyi Gate (1,800m) – Shiloko – Dubi Camp (3,600m)
After early breakfast, meet your guide and prepare your equipment. Transfer by boda boda to Bushiyi Gate for registration and briefing. Begin hiking through montane forest and bamboo zones toward Shiloko Camp (2,900m). After lunch and refreshments, continue to Dubi Camp 3600m.
Dinner and overnight in tents inside mountain huts.
Day 2: Dubi Camp – Wagagai Peak – Mongongo Camp (4,000m)
Start early for the summit attempt with packed snacks and water. Hike through alpine terrain to Wagagai Peak. Enjoy panoramic views of Uganda and Kenya, then descend via Mongongo Camp along the caldera, passing Jackson Pool and Jackson Peak. Late lunch, dinner, and overnight.
Day 3: Mongongo Camp – Kajeri Camp – Tutum Cave Camp
After breakfast, descend toward Kajeri Camp for lunch and rest. Continue trekking to Tutum Cave Camp for dinner and overnight.
Day 4: Tutum Cave – Kapkwai Gate – Departure
After breakfast, hike to Kapkwai Exploration Centre via the Sipi Trail. Meet your driver or boda boda for transfer to your next destination.
